@t_ray_castiway and I chose to have @lacunaphoenix and @lacunasedona host the bar at our Wedding reception. This means we served a variety of botanicals without alcohol that made everyone feel amazing AND everyone made it home safely.
I'll be honest, as a pro event planner, the wedding details were easy to put together and pretty much stress free. But when you put your guest list together and start to realize the variety of backgrounds all your guests have... that's where any bride's biggest pain points typically come from.
We love our family and friends - we don't always love what alcohol does to them.
We know alcohol doesn't open the heart, it numbs it. So why would we serve something that counteracts the magic of the ceremony?
We are also very aware that no matter what family / friend group you're from, we all know someone who struggles with addiction.
A wedding should be blissful, not triggering.
I know I wouldn't be proud of our wedding if someone got hurt based on what we chose to serve.

As Tyler and I look back at our wedding last week, we get to recall every single moment in vivid detail. I remember the sparkles in his eyes during our ceremony and first dance. I remember the way his hands felt holding mine as he slid the ring onto my finger. I remember every hug, every kiss, every sweet word. We recall and talk about our vows, giving them the space and respect they deserve. We remember everyone's speeches and the emotions they carried.
🍼 We get to tell our future children about this day and forever change the generational cycles of pain because of it.
