In today's dynamic job market, being a server emerges as a financially solid choice for a diverse array of individuals, including students, part-time workers, and artists. This role offers not just flexibility, but also the potential for considerable earnings through tips. Reflecting on my personal experience, I can confirm that my tenure in the service industry has always yielded a higher disposable income compared to my initial professional roles post-college graduation.
Importantly, success in this field requires more than mere presence; proactive engagement and quality service are key. Here are 10 tips to make more tips NOW:
💸 Upsell the experience, not just what you're serving.
💸 Always learn more about what you're serving, and how to serve it most efficiently.
💸 Write the words "thank you" on the bill before handing it to them (when applicable).
💸 Own the space you work in, and make it feel like people have entered your living room.
💸 Assume the sale. They didn't get dressed up and drive into your establishment just to not purchase anything.
💸 Maintain awareness and don't get stuck in one conversation.
💸 Create an environment that caters to the needs of those who are currently in the building.
💸 Remember their names and their drinks.
💸 Be grateful for every tip, no matter how big or small it may be.
💸 Stand up for yourself and don't allow people to lower the vibe you've worked so hard to set.
