Why I'd Rather Be Paid by the Hustle Instead of by the Hour

October 3, 2017

At the end of the day, time is money. And money is our fuel in the journey of human experience.

Anytime I've ever worked an hourly job, my hustle is stifled. I work at the exact pace you should expect out of the amount of bills you have designated for me to fill your space. The concept of "working as hard as the job you want instead of the job you have" can be a very difficult pill to swallow. It is very easy to be taken advantage of. I'm not a fan of paying my effort forward. It may be naive, but I don't care. My worth is driven by an internal compass, so external motivation has to be extra juicy to seem appealing.

But the hustle, my friends, is where you get to learn about your true limits. The hustle is where you must be vulnerable and willing to take risks. Within the hustle is where your pupils dilate, your heart beat quickens, and your senses rev up.

Remember, fear and excitement are emotions that may be on the opposite sides of a coin - but they're on the same coin. They're both the product of the same chemical - you simply get to choose which path you'd prefer to take. I personally choose the thrill and excitement of the unknown.

Within the hustle, you MUST find a way to convince your clients that the service or product you have to offer will change their life. If you don't, you don't get to eat. The effect is immediate. You feel it instantly. There is no grace period, warning, write up system, or recovery time. Because of this, your connection with your clients becomes about more than the money. Human connection becomes essential to your survival.

That's okay! Let's take money out of this equation and replace it with satisfaction. What are you willing to risk in order to be satisfied with this life?
